Joggers…it’s more lifestyle
Oh, hey!
I didn’t see you there. After a lot of soul-searching (and by “soul-searching” I mean me doing the thing I always had the feeling I was gonna do anyway), I’ve decided to make a bold leap. Sacred and Lit is officially transitioning from being a purely interior design space to a full-on lifestyle destination—complete with all the good stuff: community, self-care, inspirational stories, general yapping, and, of course, a hefty dose of Blackness because I am Black and I love celebrating Black ish. It’s like a makeover for the whole brand, and if you’ve ever done a home reno, you know that’s always more fun than it sounds on paper.
Why the Shift?
Day ones are already aware that the first iteration of Sacred and Lit started out as a quirky little weekly newsletter where I shared soundscapes and musings about my life. A lot of yapping but sometimes I even had a lesson or like a concept of a point. After transitioning away from audio production as my main gig into interior and set design, this place became a destination where felt comfortable sharing my love for all things design—color palettes, furniture that makes you feel like royalty and also makes you feel like your abuela would find it so nice she’d put some plastic on it, and spaces that literally (and figuratively) gave you life. But as much as I adore a good throw pillow, I realized there’s so much more to living a lit life than what’s on your coffee table.
I’m talking about life—the full 360-degree experience. Think: wellness, culture, personal growth, and stories that make you feel seen. Basically, as my life has evolved—as all of our lives have grown and evolved in the past few years—I wanted to curate a space that feels like a better reflection of who and where we are. Because while a beautifully designed room is fantastic, there’s nothing quite as transformative as learning how to live intentionally, embrace your roots, and maybe dance in your kitchen to some Kendrick while you’re at it.
Because we deserve it all.
A Celebration of African American Culture
Sacred and Lit has always had a deep appreciation for culture and identity. But now, I’m bringing the richness of Black culture to the forefront. And no, it’s not just going to be about history (though we’ll definitely sprinkle some of that in), it’s about celebrating the vibrant, ever-evolving tapestry of art, music, food, literature, and everything else that makes us who we are.
Now, as I shift the focus to lifestyle, the newsletter will be getting a makeover too. You’ll still get personal reflections, inspiring content, and fun little tidbits from my life, but it’ll come with more culture, more laughs, and definitely more stories that make you feel like you’re chatting with a friend over a cup of tea (or wine, no judgment).
What’s Coming to Sacred and Lit?
You can expect a healthy mix of content that’s about much more than just what’s on your walls—though we’ll still be sure to share our favorite funky products to help you decorate your personal space! Now, you’ll find posts that cover everything from creating spaces that vibe with your spirit to self-care tips that’ll have you feeling like you’ve just had a spa day (minus the robe, but hey, if you want to wear one, you do you).
Why This is a Big Deal (and Maybe a Little Funny)
Here’s the thing: life isn’t always perfect, and neither is this shift. But I promise it’s going to be a fun ride. I mean, if a brand can go from interior design to lifestyle with a side of soul and culture, you know it’s going to be a little wild—and definitely lit. There will be a few bumps along the way, some trial and error, and a whole lot of figuring it out as I go. But if you’ve ever rearranged furniture in the middle of the night because you just had to get it right, you know that process can lead to some of the most rewarding moments.
The Next Chapter: Let’s Make it Fun
Sacred and Lit isn’t going anywhere—it’s just getting bigger, bolder, and way more fun. Expect to see a whole lot more lifestyle content, inspiration that speaks to the heart, and, of course, a focus on the power and beauty of African American culture. If you’ve ever felt like you needed more depth in your life (and who doesn’t?), this is your place.
So buckle up, friends. The next chapter is going to be sacred, it’s going to be lit, and it’s going to be unapologetically us. Let’s dive in.
P.S. I’m probably going to reference Kendrick a few more times, so get ready. 😉
